Advantages: reed has considerable strength and is resistant to long-term water exposure. Reed panels are also suitable as a plaster substrate (e.g. for clay or lime plaster). Because the material is plant-based and untreated, it is straightforward to dispose of.

Disadvantages: reed panels weigh a good deal, which is why structural analysis of the insulation structure is necessary. As the panels are none too thick, though, they must be combined with other materials in order to achieve a satisfactory U value.
